SELECTING THE SKILL LEVEL I WANT AND THE PRICE I PAID

I ordered from their Elite writers who have an average rating of 4.6 to 5 stars. An Elite writer, which costs $4.25 per 150 words, is only surpassed in quality by an Elite Plus writer, which costs a whopping $11.50 per 150 words. I understand that I cannot expect breathtaking content if I pay $2 per 100 words ( I've paid iWriter $40 for a 2000-word article). I have kept in my mind to review them less harshly given the lower price.

Update: iWriter has since updated their pricing. An Elite writer's services now cost $4.70 per 150 words, and an Elite Plus writer's cost $13 per 150 words. The order we placed is now $44.

While I do not anticipate to see anything amazing, I do expect the following for my money:

  • Correct grammar
  • Good sentence structure
  • Decent research

I've marked 'decent research' as bold because if the research is well done, I'll looked passed any grammar mistakes or bad sentence structure. I can change that all myself as long as I can see that the writer followed by instructions closely and dedicated his or her time to this article.

I asked iWriter to write a top 10 entry mentioning the best content providers that offer educational content.

On the 20th of April, 2017, I received my article for review.

I IMMEDIATELY GOT CONTACTED BY MY WRITER

My order got picked up by a writer who contacted me immediately. His English was flawed, and he told me to make changes to my order. Not a good first impression, but I did what was asked.

After a few days, I also received this. To spare your eyes from any confusion, it is basically a request for more time to finish the article.

FIRST IMPRESSIONS OF THE FIRST DRAFT

I paid for 2000 words, but I received 2283. While it is easy to assume that this is a positive sign, this is clearly not always the case.

The first thing that put me off is the complicated way in which I have to proofread the article. I understand that clients shouldn’t be able to copy-paste the content, but adding the marks is nonsensical. I can still read the text – the process is just that more irritable:

FOR THIS PRICE, YOU RISK RECEIVING SPUN CONTENT

The content I received was either automatically spun using some kind of software, or it was paraphrased using synonyms. I received sentences like:

“Educational writing must be presented in a precise elegance.”

“Writers add their opinion and critical inclusions to express their assertions hence lengthy.”

FOR THIS PRICE, YOU RISK RECEIVING NONSENSE

At ContentHeat, we often mention the basic knowledge advisor. This is someone that shares basic knowledge to make the content come across as informative, but which the reader already knew. But with iWriter, we go a level further: you risk receive complete nonsense that tries to pass itself off as basic knowledge. Here’s an example:

“Different from other types of writing, educational writing has a key component known as structure.”

Does that mean that other types of writing don't have structure? Absolute nonsense.

FOR THIS PRICE, YOU RISK HAVING YOUR WRITER COMPLETELY WRITE SOMETHING ELSE

I requested an article in a top 10 format that lists the best educational writing services on the internet for a fee. After the writer had an attempt at writing a definition on educational writing, the text continued as follows:

PREVALENCE OF SHAMANISM AMONG 600 RED INDIANS IN AMERICA FROM JUNE 2013 TO AUGUST 2016

What?

iWriter seems to have completely misunderstood my article request. iWriter has 4 levels of writers. Basic, Premium, Elite, and Elite Plus. I don’t want to start imagining what you get with basic and premium.

I DECIDED TO UPGRADE TO ELITE PLUS

The Elite Plus is a whopping $130 per 2000 words (Please be aware that iWriter has since updated their prices. This order now costs $145). Regardless, as I’m trying to write a honest review of iWriter, I’ve decided to reject this piece of cr… content I received, and upgrade to an Elite Plus writer by paying $90 more. Let’s see if their Elite Plus writers can offer me something of value.

REVIEWING THEIR ELITE PLUS WRITER

On 22/04/2017, I received a rewrite from an Elite Plus writer. He had overdone the SEO part. 2% of the content contained the targeted keyword. That means it was mentioned at least 40 times! Regardless, the writer followed my instructions, wrote a clear text, simple, to the point, with facts, and flawless English.

He forgot two minor requests I made clear in my instructions, so I’ve requested a rewrite. Overall, I’m happy with the result.

A REWRITE FROM THE ELITE PLUS WRITER

On 23/04, I requested another rewrite. He failed to understand my request to first time I asked a rewrite. The instructions were as easy as including the prices.

Sloppy work with the hope that I won’t notice.

On 24/04/2016, I received another rewrite and I was satisfied with it. You can find the article here: educational writing.

If I received this from the start, which honestly wasn’t such a complicated task, I’d give iWriter a pass. The long time I had to wait for my article including the incredibly high price is the reason why I gave iWriter such a low score.
